Ashley Marie Spencer to host book event for National Library Week


Ashley Marie Spencer,  will host a reading by the fireplace, a meet & greet, and a writer’s process workshop on Tuesday, April 11th from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  Spencer released her debut young-adult fiction series with the first novel entitled The Legend of Kaya this past Dec. 2016.

True to the theme of NLW “Libraries Transform,” Spencer has been transformed by books, libraries, and writing.  She first tried her hand at writing novels when she was thirteen and finished her first novel at the age of twenty. The Legend of Kaya is her first novel and she has ideas for almost a dozen other stories and is anxious to begin working on them.  Spencer will be sharing her writing process in an interactive workshop from 5:00-5:45 p.m. 

In The Legend of Kaya the main character, Marie is an everyday, average, eighteen-year-old girl whose biggest worry in life is going off to college. That is, until her world explodes on her.  When the ash and dust settle, Marie makes the decision to fight for survival and find others who have survived. People are invited to come a  listen to selected readings from the novel by the fireplace from 4:00-4:45 p.m. as Spencer reads and entertains from this novel.

Refreshments will be served during a meet & greet time as well as Spencer will be available to sign copies of her book.
